Writing for School

"I had four children and an academic salary. School fees loomed fast round the corner." John Keegan describes how he came to be a writer. There's some lovely, quiet writing here. Listen:

"Barrie Pitt wanted short, clear, well-written, accurate historical narratives, which satisfied the appetite of television-watching readers for a good story and the critical eye of the self-taught for truth."

I love that final clause.
