For several years, I travelled with a sketch pad and watercolors instead of a camera. It's a good thing; trying to draw is better for you than constantly snapping pictures.

And it's better for other tourists, too; sketchers are less obnoxious, surely, than the camera-wielding hordes.

The digital camera tempted me back, partly because sketching is so slow. Even when I have time to draw, my travel companions didn't want to sit around and wait.
